At one time, there were many different throwing distances, and for that matter, many different styles of dartboards. In the late 1970’s darts organizations in England and the USA agreed to the current International standards.

Bristle Dartboards should be hung with the Bull at 5 feet 8 inches from the floor. The mounting bracket for the dartboard goes on the wall, and that is the height of the center of the “U”-shaped bracket, where the dartboard’s mounting screw will rest.
